A note about Covid 19
August 2020
Dear Friends, Neighbors, and Guests,
Like most people in our community, we’re frustrated and concerned about Covid 19 related issues and the struggle to live a normal life, maintain jobs, educate our children, operate businesses, all while also keeping everyone safe for a Covid-free future. We are with you in the work it takes to adapt for everyone’s sake.
This has been a year like no other at Lairmont Manor. The summer of celebrations which would normally bring so much happiness to so many people has been largely postponed to future dates. We are humbled by the understanding and hope of our guests and continue to be inspired by the human spirit, resilience and persistence of love in spite of setbacks. Since the onset of Covid 19, our daily and weekly life has been all about learning and acceptance. Learning to adjust and take each day at a time. Acceptance of things we cannot change. As Covid safety guidelines for gatherings change often and in order to know what to tell our concerned guests, we have found that the best way to keep on top of guidelines is to call our Washington State Governor's Office and The Washington State Department of Health and Whatcom County Health Department each morning to make certain we are following safety procedures to our best ability. This we do.
We have set into place all those Covid 19 safety measures, including face masks, hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipe stations at entrances, sparkling clean guest bathrooms, distance markers on floors, staff-, vendor-, and guest-specific restrooms which are cleaned multiple times per day by our team. When there is an event, we have baskets of masks available at multiple entrances, we work with planners to arrange seating by family group and six feet apart, and our coordinators walk around offering guests fresh masks. We have specific pathways for vendors to minimize contact. We have signage reminding staff and visitors to please wear masks, wash hands and distance themselves.
Our team is required to wear face masks and keep six feet apart from one another. We have thermometers to check our team before they enter work, and if any one feels even slightly off or has an elevated temperature, they stay home or go home immediately. Our goal is for the safety of our guests, community and team. We take these safety precautions seriously and are confident we are in compliance with state and local guidelines.
We truly love our amazing community which we are so fortunate to be a part of through generations and change. We are grateful for so many supportive and loving friends, staff and neighbors who over the many years unite us and share our love for this unique and historic treasure we steward. We are all working through the challenges brought on by this pandemic and continue to strive to do our absolute best for the sake of everyone’s health. In the meanwhile, we are treasuring this time with family, enjoying our incredible Pacific Northwest surroundings and trying to keep perspective on the most important aspects of life. We will get through this and know there are better days ahead.
We send to you, our fellow creatives, guests, neighbors and businesses our heartfelt love and support. We wish you a happy and healthy summer and all the very best things in 2021 and beyond.
